Solar Power

Solar energy comes from the sun and is Australia's largest potential energy source. By switching your home to Solar Power, you are converting the sun’s energy into a free and environmentally sustainable source of electricity.

Solar Panels are often referred to as Photovoltaic or PV modules (photo= light, voltaic=electricity). When Solar Panels, on your roof are connected to your existing commercial electricity supply, the solar system is said to be grid connected.

The photovoltaic modules are installed on a north-facing roof. The PV Panels produce direct current (DC) electricity that is transformed into 240 Volt alternating current (AC) electricity by an inverter, to run standard electrical equipment and to match the commercial power supply.

The photovoltaic generation process is completely solid-state and self-contained. This means that there are no moving parts and no materials are consumed or emitted. PV panels require minimal maintenance or replacement parts throughout their service life.

While it might be true that solar cannot generate electricity all the time, it does generate electricity when it is needed most – during the day and on hot sunny days when electricity demand is at its peak.
